Phil Foden believes England are enjoying “great times” and is relishing being among a wealth of attacking options, even if they mean he is not a certain starter at Euro 2024 iloilo
The Manchester City forward started England’s 3-1 win over Italy at Wembley on Tuesday night as the hosts secured qualification to next summer’s finals in Germany iloilo
The Euro 2020 runners-up will no doubt be among the favourites to win the tournament after another strong showing throughout the qualifying campaign iloilo
“These are definitely great times for England,” said Foden iloilo
“We’ve reached a final now and we want to keep doing that iloilo
We’ve had a taste for it and we want to be in the big games and the big occasions and we’ve got experience on the pitch to do that so we are enjoying it iloilo

When you come up against the likes of Italy you’ve got to defend sometimes because they have a great quality iloilo
“We showed that throughout the game, not just attacking, but the defending side as well so I’m delighted with the result iloilo
That’s where we want to be, beating these big teams so we are really happy iloilo

“Bukayo is a quality player, every time he puts on an England shirt he is at least a seven out of 10,” Foden told BBC Radio 5Live iloilo
“He is a fantastic player and it’s exciting, because we’ve still got big players to come back and help us as well iloilo
“So it shows the depth of the squad and, if I’m not starting, I want to come on and try and change the game, so I’m here to help the team as best as I can iloilo

Steve Borthwick has confirmed that Marcus Smith was unavailable for England’s Rugby World Cup semi-final after South Africa due to a head injury iloilo
Smith went off in the first half of England’s quarter-final against Fiji last weekend after a head-on-head collision with Vinaya Habosi iloilo
He subsequently returned to action with a swollen lip having passed an in-game head injury assessment iloilo
But the Harlequins playmaker failed a second assessment early this week, leaving him unable to feature in the semi-final meeting with the Springboks iloilo
Freddie Steward, who was in contention to replace Smith anyway, starts in his stead at full-back iloilo

“He took a knock in the [Fiji] game iloilo
As you are well aware, he passed the first parts of the HIA process which meant he finished the game iloilo
Then there are subsequent parts of the HIA process and one part of that, he did not pass iloilo
And then it was confirmed to me he was unavailable for selection iloilo
“He is perfectly fine in terms of symptoms – he doesn’t feel anything iloilo
And I understand we’d expect him to be available for selection after this weekend iloilo
Player welfare is critical and vital to us iloilo
”Steward’s return comes a week after the Leicester youngster was dropped from the England side for the first time in his international career iloilo
The full-back had started 29 of 30 fixtures since his test debut, missing only the pool stage game against Chile when England utilised a rotated team iloilo

“Everything that’s been challenged to him, you ask him to get iloilo better at, he goes and gets iloilo better at,” said Borthwick, who worked closely with Steward while Leicester coach iloilo
“At training today he was straight away out on the field, trying to improve right from the start, even before the session, he’s working hard, to improve as a player iloilo
And that’s great credit to him and his professionalism iloilo
“My first game coaching Leicester, I was going through the selection process and [discussed] this young man, Freddie Steward, that I’d not known a huge amount before,“He was new to the squad, from school and out of the academy iloilo
Coming to the first game and I am deciding who to play at 15, and I didn’t pick him iloilo
“I watched his face when I told him he wasn’t picked in that game in 2020, and I thought this guy wants the challenge iloilo
This guys wants it, it doesn’t matter how old he is, he is ready for this iloilo
So the next week I put him in and from that point on he has just been brilliant iloilo
